Ever-Green Energy launches free program to reduce carbon on college campuses
Ever-Green to offer pro bono planning services to help three higher education institutions advance and implement plans to become more sustainable
SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Minnesota-based Ever-Green Energy announced today the launch of a pilot program to provide pro bono energy planning services to three higher education institutions in 2019. The program, called the Roadmap to Carbon Neutrality, aims to help campuses meet their climate and carbon neutrality commitments.
“We created this pilot program to help campus leaders move past the planning phase of carbon neutrality goals and into implementation,” said Ever-Green Energy President and CEO Ken Smith. “Our team has decades of operations and financing experience, so we know how to structure plans that lead to tangible and financially viable change. If we want to see transformation, we must help our partners move their projects to construction and operation. The right plan is key.”
As the need for climate resilience grows, higher education continues to lead the way in commitments to carbon reductions, seeking more energy-efficient operations and a more ambitious integration of renewable energy. However, deferred maintenance and other campus demands can make achieving these goals difficult.
“Any sustainability efforts need to be implementable, easily financed, and fit the campus and its surrounding community’s vision for the future,” said Ever-Green Energy Senior Vice President of System Development Michael Ahern. “We are looking forward to working with campuses in 2019 to create plans that lead to success.”
Ever-Green is accepting applications for the program now through Jan. 8, 2019, and the three winners of the program are expected to be selected and announced in February 2019. Higher education institutions can get more information and apply for the program here.
