Call for Artists
Seeking artist to bolster in-person community engagement and support understanding of the innovative, low-carbon energy system that will be installed for the Re+4RM project.
We are seeking an artist to collaborate with our project team to develop a demonstration or guest activity to attract community members to our booth at an engagement event. The artistic activity should aim to help community members better understand the low-carbon energy system technology that will be developed for this project.
Preference will be given to artists:
- working in or connected to the community that includes the Re+4RM project site at 2800 East Lake Street
- working on topics related to energy, engineering, and the environment
- with experience in hands-on engagement activities

If you are an artist interested in this project, please complete the online form to share information about your past work and a range for your preferred compensation. We will discuss this in the interview process, and you will have the opportunity to submit more formal compensation details at that time. No request will be made of the artist to deliver work product without compensation. The artist selection process will include review of the form submission and an interview to identify the best artistic match for this endeavor.

Artist compensation for this project $3,000 – $5,000.

Engagement Event
Saturday, September 16, 2023, 12 PM – 4 PM community engagement event focused on energy information at Re+4RM site located at 2800 East Lake Street – 29th Ave South and East Lake Street – former US Bank site.
On Saturday, August 19 – 12 PM – 4 PM the selected artist will have the opportunity to attend a similar outreach and engagement event to better understand the project.
Project Background
This project is part of the redevelopment of a site that was damaged in the civil unrest due to the murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis police. The 2800 E. Lake Street US Bank property was demolished, and the cleared land was donated to Re+4RM in October 2022. The project is beginning with a community engagement process before redeveloping the site for housing, commercial, public park, aquifer thermal energy system, and arts and cultural spaces. The artist’s activity will be part of site activations for this community engagement process.
An essential component of the site’s reduced environmental impact comes from a planned district energy system that is designed to be low-carbon. Ever-Green Energy is leading the development and implementation of this system, which will use aquifer thermal energy storage (ATES) along with heat pumps to heat and cool buildings, with the potential to serve other developments as they are constructed in the area. Each of the buildings on the site will be fully carbon neutral once coupled with renewable electricity.
The partnership of Re+4RM (including Redesign and 4RM+ULA), represents an innovative model that will focus on design and aesthetics, community input and activation and will be inclusive of multiple BIPOC partners.
