Ever-Green Energy (Ever-Green) has entered into a partnership to operate, manage, and maintain the Hennepin County Energy Center starting January 1, 2025. The steam and chilled water district systems provide heating and cooling services to Hennepin County and City of Minneapolis operations for 15 buildings totaling 5 million square feet on the east side of downtown Minneapolis.

The county-owned energy system serves vital local government operations including health care, safety and justice, as well as other government services. For this system, county leaders prioritize reliability, safety of team members and customers, proactive equipment maintenance, and cost management, priorities that Ever-Green is highly accustomed to delivering on at its operations across the Twin Cities and the country. Ever-Green has integrated the existing plant operations employees, adding 13 team members.

“Ever-Green is honored to have been selected by Hennepin County for our alignment in priorities and local leadership presence,” said Luke Gaalswyk, Ever-Green President and CEO. “Across the systems we manage, our team has the expertise to support critical community services like the Adult and Pediatric Level I Trauma Center at the Hennepin County Medical Center. We look forward to supporting the Energy Center team as they continue to provide reliable heating and cooling to these and other critical local government services.”

Ever-Green has previously worked with the system to perform an engineering study on the steam and chilled water systems finding opportunities to increase efficacy and reliability. Looking ahead, the partners will collaborate to work toward Hennepin County’s Climate Action Plan goals to conserve energy, improve efficiency, and reduce carbon emissions.
