Ever-Green Energy (Ever-Green) will begin operating the University of Minnesota’s Twin Cities district energy systems this November. The campus’s energy infrastructure consists of three plant locations in Minneapolis and Saint Paul and serves 24 square million square feet across 250 buildings. Ever-Green now leads four operations in the Twin Cities with an additional three under development.
“Ever-Green was honored to be selected by the University of Minnesota for our proven accomplishments in the industry and local leadership presence. We look forward to sharing the expertise we have developed across our 11 operations and numerous projects for higher education partners,” said Luke Gaalswyk, Ever-Green president and CEO.
Ever-Green has integrated the University’s existing plant operations employees, adding 47 team members.
“Our team aims to prioritize cross-training and sharing knowledge and experience across our locations, so we are looking forward to investing in the University’s operations team as well as integrating their know-how back into our organization,” said Gaalswyk.
A combination of factors, from community and developer appetite to government funding, have bolstered the strength and innovation of district systems in the Twin Cities. The Ever-Green team is working on cutting edge low-carbon heating and cooling systems in the Longfellow neighborhood of Minneapolis and at The Heights brownfield redevelopment in Saint Paul.
